Giving Tuesday every year.

Every year, Giving Tuesday falls on the last Tuesday of November or sometimes the first Tuesday in December. We also accept donations year-round towards our annual fundraising goal.

Personal E-transfer:

To make sure all of your donation goes to WWS – You can also send an E-transfer directly to WWS’s Finance Dept.

You will still receive tax receipts for your gift and it saves more of your donation by helping us save on credit card transaction fees.

Annual Give Funding

The Annual Giving campaign funds are generally earmarked for upgraded facilities, program enhancements, transportation and professional development to make and create even greater learning opportunities for all our students. Priorities include:

Upgraded Facilities

As our school community continues to grow, the need to update and enhance our essential resources remains a priority.

Custom Storage Solutions: To optimize space and enhance functionality, we are prioritizing the implementation of custom storage solutions, such as coat racks and dedicated storage for instruments like violins. Recent upgrades include enhancements to the Grade 4 and 5 classrooms, movable storage for our Spruce Room, and updated storage in the kindergarten classroom. We look forward to continuing these improvements in other learning spaces throughout the school.
Technology: We’ve made significant progress in enhancing our technological infrastructure, including acquiring class sets of computers for high school use, providing laptops to support student learning, and improving digital security measures. However, ongoing needs remain, such as equipping all classrooms and shared spaces with sufficient digital projectors.

Program Enhancements

Strategic investments in staffing time allow us to refine, develop, and expand programs that address the diverse needs of our students. Our key priorities for 2024-25 include:

Launching an English Language Learner Program to provide targeted support, helping students strengthen their language skills and achieve academic success.
Hiring a specialist to conduct inclusive education funding assessments, ensuring eligible students receive the funding support they need.
Enhancing the After-School Supplemental Student Support Program to offer students expanded opportunities to deepen their learning.

Curriculum Coordinator (ongoing contract position)

Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to integrate Waldorf principles with the educational goals set by the BC Ministry of Education. Securing funding for a dedicated Curriculum Coordinator will enable us to align our curricular scope and sequences cohesively across all grade levels.

This role will ensure a clear and consistent educational framework, providing faculty and parents with a comprehensive understanding of the learning outcomes expected at each stage of development.

Investing in these initiatives will enhance the educational experience for our students and strengthen our ability to meet their unique and evolving needs.

Waldorf education places children at the heart of its pedagogical approach, recognizing the essential role that teachers play in shaping the educational experience. At WWS, our educators are our greatest asset. We are committed to supporting their growth through ongoing professional development, empowering them to deepen their expertise and enrich their contributions within their areas of service.

About Us

The Whistler Waldorf School has provided a holistic and experiential Waldorf education for more than 20 years thanks to the support of families, alumni, Board Trustees, staff, and local supporters including the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, the Whistler Community Foundation, and the Resort Municipality of Whistler.

Annual fundraising helps WWS bridge the gap between tuition income and our program expenses and is a vital element of our school’s success. No amount is too small to make a big difference.

How is my donation used?

Every year there are a multitude of needs that go beyond the regular day-to-day operations of running a not-for-profit independent school. The Annual Giving campaign funds are generally earmarked for items in teacher wish lists and capital projects to make and create even greater learning opportunities for all our students. Fundraising may be used for:

Outdoor class learning/PE opportunities
Technology and more laptops for in class use
Field trip transportation
Community venue rental
Student support learning tools and equipment

Annual Giving FAQs

Who supports the Annual Giving Fund?
We strive to receive 100% participation from current families, Board Trustees, faculty, staff, administrators, grandparents, alumni and community supporters.

How much should I give?
You are the only one who knows how much you are able to give, and we ask only that you give to the best of your ability. We encourage each family to make the school a philanthropic priority especially while your children are in attendance.

Why is participation important?
The school’s financial strength is dependent upon the participation of all members of its constituency. Participation sends a strong message of support for the school and our students.

What does the Annual Giving Campaign support? The Annual Fund is designed to address the education needs of our children as they arise, providing faculty-requested program and facility enhancements across the continuum.

Why am I being asked to support the Annual Giving campaign in addition to paying tuition?
Tuition fees and government grants alone do not cover the full expense of a Whistler Waldorf education. As an independent school and non-profit organization, Whistler Waldorf relies on the generosity of our community members in helping us to bridge the gap.

Why not raise tuition?
Whistler Waldorf maintains one of the lowest tuition rates among independent schools in our area. At our tuition level, the school is able to make a Waldorf education affordable to more families. Tuition and fees don’t fully cover the full costs of educating our students, so we, like other independent schools, conduct fundraising galas and Annual Giving campaigns.

Likewise, many families appreciate the opportunities to claim a tax deduction. Tax receipts are given for donations to the school whereas tuition is not tax-deductible.

Over #20yearsWhistlerWaldorf

For more than 20 years, hundreds of volunteers and community members have come forward to help get our school where it is today. Without their help, support and initiative, the WWS would not have thrived or become what it is known as today – a strong independent school of choice in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor and one of only three full kindergarten-Grade 12 Waldorf Schools in Canada.

Our 2nd annual give campaign in 2021 showcased WWS’ 20 year celebration with thoughts and reflections from lifelong founders, parents and member contributors:

Alta Lake school opens its doors to 10 students
2008
WWS joins the Assn. of Waldorf Schools of North America & officially changes name to Whistler Waldorf
2010
School grows to 80 students in pre-k through Grade 8
2016
WWS graduates its first Grade 12 class
2019
Addition of Spring Creek Early Years Centre - a satellite pre-k program
2020
WWS serves over 215 students from pre-k-Grade 12
