A sophisticated evening community event
New for 2024, join the WWS community at a musical evening of giving for the benefit of the Whistler Waldorf School @ the beautiful Wedge Mountain Lodge located at 9120 Riverside Drive in Wedgemont.
Date: Thursday May 9 @ Wedge Mountain Lodge & Spa
Reception: 6:30-7:30 PM & Concert begins: 7:30 PM
We welcome families to attend but please also be aware that the concert is ideally suited for children aged 6 and above who are likely to appreciate the approximately 90-minute seated concert experience. This is a formal seated event and children must remain seated with their parents throughout the duration of the event. All attendees require a ticket for the evening.
Waldorf education places a strong emphasis on the arts as an integral part of learning. What better way to celebrate and support WWS than with a recital? Join us as we come together to celebrate our community and the transformative power of the arts in education.
Highlights of the Evening:
- Wine and Canapé Reception at the luxurious Wedge Mountain Lodge & Spa
- Seated concert featuring the Sea to Sky Strings Orchestra under the direction of Yuko Iwanaga, alongside select performances from members of the Sea to Sky Youth Strings Orchestra.
- Solo performance by cellist Christopher Hwang, laureate of numerous music competitions, most recently, winner of the Canada Council for the Arts Instrument Bank Competition 2023 resulting in a loan of 1929 Carlo Guiseppe Oddone cello and finalist at the Eckhardt-Gramatte National Music Competition 2021.
- Concert selections include: Vocalize by S. Rachmaninov, Sinfonia in D minor 1st mvt by F. Mendelssohn, Mambo from West Side Story by L. Bernstein, and more.
- Raise the paddle and support the Whistler Waldorf School by helping fulfill teachers’ wishes.
