Age appropriate, focused learning

Providing a comprehensive pre-K to grade 12 education comes with its own set of remarkable benefits and challenges. The unique needs of each division can sometimes be difficult to address comprehensively. In recognition of this, we’ve made the decision to differentiate our Lower School (grades 1-4) and Middle School (grades 5-7). This tailored approach allows for a more concentrated focus within a narrower developmental age range.

With an impressive achievement of more than 90% of Grade 4 and 7 students performing at or above grade level in literacy and numeracy, as demonstrated by the FSAs, we take pride in the solid academic foundation we provide. However, our commitment to student success goes beyond these impressive statistics to encompass the nurturing of critical life skills.

We are determined to explicitly develop competencies essential for our middle school students, including note-taking, study skills, and time management. These skills are invaluable not only in students’ academic journey but also in their broader life experiences. The social needs of Middle School students also diverge from those in the Lower School and we hope to provide more tailored programming such as the incorporation of service learning opportunities.

All students will maintain the hands-on and age-appropriate learning that Waldorf is renowned for, with adjustments made to cater to each group’s unique needs.
