Honoring Truth and Reconciliation at Waldorf

Our students will gather for an important Truth and Reconciliation assembly on Friday. This assembly represents an opportunity for our entire school community to unite in the spirit of learning, empathy, and reflection regarding the history and experiences of Indigenous peoples in our country.

During this assembly:

  • Lower School students will learn about Phyllis Webstad and the significance of Orange Shirt Day, promoting empathy and understanding.
  • Middle School students will delve into the history of residential schools and the role of the government in this complex chapter of our nation’s history.
  • High School students will engage in listening to a first perspective from a residential survivor to deepen their knowledge and commitment to reconciliation.

The Truth and Reconciliation assembly serves as a platform for fostering meaningful conversations about Indigenous culture, history, and the ongoing process of reconciliation.
