WWS community gets together to celebrate Michaelmas

Waldorf Schools worldwide celebrate the Festival of Courage, which began as a medieval harvest festival. This event pays tribute to the archangel Michael, a symbol shared across Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, representing the triumph of good over evil and courage over fear.

The Festival of Courage coincides with the autumn equinox, marking the shift from summer’s warmth to cooler weather and shorter days. It serves as a time for reflection and inner strength-building to face the approaching darkness.

In line with Waldorf traditions, the school community gathers together to partake in games and activities that emphasize confronting fears, fostering determination, and working together. This celebration also serves as a rite of passage, signifying students’ growth and changing roles within the school as they progress through grades.
