Shifting Perspectives starts November 7 at Maury Young
WWS is excited to announce Shifting Perspectives: Stories of Mental Health, Adversity, and Resilience, a three-part community-wide youth mental health speaker series hosted by WWS, made possible with generous support from the Whistler Health Care Foundation.
In Waldorf education, biography plays a powerful role, offering students insight into the lives of others. The lives of those who have faced adversity and emerged stronger serve as profound reminders that challenges can foster growth and resilience. Through these narratives, students learn that hardship can be a powerful catalyst for personal transformation.
Session #1: Shifting Perspectives will begin on November 7th at 5:30pm (doors open) 6pm Start at Maury Young Arts Centre. Guest speaker Guy Felicella will share his remarkable journey from the depths of drug addiction, homelessness, gang involvement, and multiple life-threatening overdoses to a life of profound transformation and recovery. His story offers powerful lessons about harm reduction, drug policies, and the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction. Please note that the presentation contains themes of drug use and criminal activity. We recommend it for students in grades 7 and above.
