Waldorf Wednesday – Handwork in class

Waldorf Wednesdays!

Waldorf education is known for its inclusion of handwork instruction. Our playschool/kindergarten students learn to do simple finger knitting, hand sewing, and crafts, while grade school students are taught handwork as a specialty subject class. Beginning in Grade One, students learn to knit with wooden needles that they handcraft themselves. Every grade is challenged to learn more complex skills, techniques, and patterns. By Grade Seven, our students learn to craft their own moccasins. The picture showcases Grade Four cross stitch projects.
