Safe return to class planned for this Sept. – Aug. 10 update

*This update is intended for all students registered at Whistler Waldorf School from K-Grade 12 for the upcoming 2020/2021 school year.  Daycare and preschool announcements will follow soon.

Dear Parents,

As you know the Ministry of Education for Kindergarten to Highschool announced that we will be returning to a Stage 2 in the fall.

What does this mean for you and your family?

  1. Learning Groups will be established according to Ministry of Health and Education guidelines.  Learning Group Sizes:
    – Elementary: 60
    – Middle: 60
    – Secondary: 120
  2. Instruction Method for September
For September, WWS will be providing full-time instruction for all students for the maximum instructional time possible within learning group limits. Due to our small community size WWS will be better able to meet the learning group requirements than larger schools.  100% onsite or in-class learning will be most likely in the fall.
  3. What if Covid-19 numbers rise in the fall and winter?
WWS is prepared to enter any stage of learning, we have created schedules that meet any and all stages.  Should distance learning (Stage 3, 4 or 5) be triggered at any time, WWS will switch to using the platforms and schedules we set up last school year (with refinements and tweaks for the better).

We are prepared to meet the moment and our community, and have been waiting, like you to hear more from the Ministry of Education.  They are sending out more details to principals on August 10th, and our Operational Management Team will be setting and finalizing plans next week. Stay tuned for another more detailed email next week.

Thank you for your patience, as we all enter another school year with care, respect and consideration during these uncertain times. Should you have any questions, please call me.

Kind regards,

Rubeena Sandhu
