Math – both practical and creative learning

With the study of algebra, Grade 7 students are introduced to abstract mathematical thinking. They have entered the realm of positive and negative integers, variables, formulae, binomials, inverse operations, coefficients, and irrational numbers. Students have also learned to balance equations and to solve for variables.

Math concepts are presented in both practical and creative ways. The interdisciplinary approach is part and parcel to the Waldorf classroom. Waldorf teachers take care to compose a lesson that is full of active learning, followed by quiet reflection.
