Rolling up your sleeves…

Third graders at Whistler Waldorf School love to work. They are excited to use their hands and eager to participate. Their self-esteem grows with accomplishment and the mastery of wonderful challenges.

Farming, gardening, and building projects are a focus of the curriculum for this grade and provide valuable learning experiences. Third graders work with all types of measurements and study the contributions of ancient civilizations to the science of measurement. In math, children expand their understanding of place value, carrying and borrowing, and begin long division. In geography, students study housing and buildings from around the world and build their own model houses.

Students recently completed a building project in which they worked together to cooperatively make various play yard games. Now they are enjoying the fruits of their labour by playing these at recess!
