Award of Excellence – Honourable Mention for the EYC

CONGRATULATIONS! Today is Childcare Appreciation Day across British Columbia and we are pleased to share that Whistler Waldorf Early Years Centre is the recipient of the 2021 B.C. Child Care Award of Excellence Honourable Mention in the Perseverance category awarded by the B.C. Ministry of Child and Family Development.

In light of the pandemic, this award honours a childcare facility, team or organization that has persevered in overcoming barriers, obstacles and challenges to demonstrate their commitment to delivering high-quality Early Childhood Learning services.

Whistler Waldorf School opened the Early Years Centre in Spring Creek, a not-for-profit licensed group childcare program, just three months prior to March’s province-wide shutdowns. WWS educators and staff modified programming and re-opened within two short weeks to serve the community-wide purpose of providing care to children of essential service workers during the COVID-19 crisis.

Child care providers were “essential” long before the pandemic, and the past year has highlighted the lengths to which they are willing to go to serve the children in our community.

Did you know that May is Childcare Month in BC? And that May 20th has been officially declared Childcare Appreciation Day? We celebrate and thank our faculty and staff at the Early Years Centre in Spring Creek and Little Cedars programs.
