September Curriculum Update
Why WWS? Waldorf education not only offers a B.C. Ministry-accredited curriculum but goes beyond by meeting those outcomes through rich, experiential learning. This approach deepens understanding by making learning more engaging and relevant, encourages critical thinking and problem-solving, and helps students develop practical skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Grade 6 Benefits from Mineralogy
For example, Grade 6 students have just completed a mineralogy block, where concepts such as altitudinal zones, the rock cycle, volcanoes, tectonic plates, and the Pacific Ring of Fire came to life. They explored the geology of the Sea to Sky corridor through hikes on Blackcomb, biking from Cheakamus to Brandywine Falls and exploring the famous Stawamus Chief. Through hands-on experiments with rocks, students are investigating Newton’s Laws of Motion and learning how to determine whether a test is fair or unfair.
