Parent meetings are for all High School Grades at Whistler Waldorf School to discuss upcoming events, curriculum details and what’s happening in the class.
The meeting generally is structured with:
is for all grades; and then each grade will breakout to discuss specific class info. for the rest of the meeting.
• An educational and research presentation/discussion on youth needs and current issues; often hosted by guest speaker.
• High School curriculum discussion and questions
• Individual class meetings with the guardians
• Monthly/Term calendar, field trip and event logistics

This meeting promises to provide insights into your child’s educational journey and how we, as a Waldorf institution, are committed to their growth and development with the break out groups to follow and  grade specific logistical information about the term ahead.

XC Ski Trip To WOP – Grade 5-7

Our middle school grades will go to Whistler Olympic Park for a cross-country ski trip.

 

 

Speaker Series: Shifting Perspectives @ Maury Young Arts Centre

Community Speaker Series hosted by Whistler Waldorf School FREE to youth and community members of the Sea to Sky.

When:  Several events from October 2024 – March 2025

Times: All will be evening presentations. Doors open at 5:30pm. Event begins at 6pm Start.

We are excited to announce  Shifting Perspectives: Stories of Mental Health, Adversity, and Resilience, a three-part community-wide youth mental health speaker series hosted by WWS, made possible with generous support from the Whistler Health Care Foundation. In Waldorf education, biography plays a powerful role, offering students insight into the lives of others. The lives of those who have faced adversity and emerged stronger serve as profound reminders that challenges can foster growth and resilience. Through these narratives, students learn that hardship can be a powerful catalyst for personal transformation. The event series if free to the community, but each event is ticketed to help track capacity for the evening. See our blog for more details about each event and ticket links to RSVP.

 

Session #1: At Maury Young Arts Centre – Shifting Perspectiveswill begin with Overcoming on November 7Guy Felicella’s presentation will share his remarkable journey from the depths of drug addiction, homelessness, gang involvement, and multiple life-threatening overdoses to a life of profound transformation and recovery. His story offers powerful lessons about harm reduction, drug policies, and the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction. Please note that the presentation contains themes of drug use and criminal activity. We recommend it for students in grades 7 and above. 

Session #2 (Part 1): At Squamish Lillooet Cultural Centre Shifting Perspectives  continues with the Shut Up & Say Something Film Screening on January 27 Shane Koyczan’s documentary movie Shut Up And Say Something follows acclaimed international spoken word artist Shane Koyczan on an emotional road trip to reconnect with the father he never knew. Seen and heard by millions worldwide, Shane’s poignant and powerful poems tackle everything from bullying to body image. Don’t miss the chance to experience this powerful and thought-provoking film. We recommend it for students in grades 7 and above. 

Session #2 (Part 2): At Maury Young Arts Centre – Shifting Perspectives  includes a part 2 following up on the film screening on January 28 with An Evening With Shane Koyczan on February 24…  an exclusive youth speaker event. More about Shane: https://www.shanekoyczan.com/ This is a Free event geared toward youth in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Donations to WCSS and the SLCC Youth Ambassador Program accepted at the Door and via Eventbrite. We recommend it for students in grades 7 and above. 

Session #3: Details are TBA, but will be confirmed by February for March evening.

High School Winter Outdoor Trip Week

The week is reserved for High School Outdoor Education Trips where Waldorf high school students will be learning outdoors on a pre-planned trip to a local B.C. Destination. For the winter, usually the Monday and Friday are included in the Winter trip week as prep and unpack days at the school.

May Faire Festival @ Whistler Waldorf School

Our annual May Faire is open to the local community and celebrates everything about Spring, tradition, music and Waldorf culture!

May Faire is an ancient festival honoring the change of seasons from darkness to light. The tree of life was part of this festival and is now represented by the Maypole. The afternoon is open to the community with Maypole dancing, songs, food and children’s activities.
