Support Whistler Waldorf School this Year

Students’ educational experiences help shape who they are, what they do and how they do it.

  • We all want our children to learn, grow and develop their own potential.
  • To be led by committed teaching staff.
  • To be passionate about what they are learning.

Our students are honoured as individuals with distinctive abilities and interests and unique paths of growth. Yet no matter who our students grow to become, they will always be strengthened by community.

We are all part of their community so please #Give@WWS

Make your annual or a monthly donation using the online form below. Tax receipts are issued for donations over $20 as a tax-free charitable donation.

 Giving Tuesday every year.

Every year, Giving Tuesday falls on the last Tuesday of November or sometimes the first Tuesday in December.

Our campaign officially ends the week of Giving Tuesday however, we accept donations year-round towards our annual fundraising goal.

This Year’s Funding Priorities

The Annual Giving campaign funds are generally earmarked for upgraded facilities, program enhancements, transportation and professional development to make and create even greater learning opportunities for all our students.  Priorities include:

Upgraded facilities – $12K

As our school community grows, the need to update and expand on the basics is important.

  • Custom Storage Solutions: We aim to optimize available space and revitalize classrooms through the implementation of custom storage solutions, such as coat racks and designated storage for instruments like violins. Having completed updates in our Gr 4 classroom, we eagerly anticipate extending these enhancements to other learning spaces.
  • Laptops: We’ve made significant investments in our technological infrastructure, including the acquisition of a class set of computers for HS use, as well as laptops tailored for student support, and advanced digital security measures. We now aim to purchase six additional computers which will help us establish a second classroom set.
Program Enhancements – $15K

Curriculum Coordinator (contract staffing position)

The curriculum at WWS is designed to blend Waldorf principles seamlessly with the educational goals established by the BC Ministry of Education. Allocating resources for a contract Curriculum Coordinator will aid in achieving a cohesive alignment of curricular scope and sequences across all grade levels.

  • Through this collaboration, our goal is to offer our faculty and parents a comprehensive and transparent understanding of the anticipated educational progress at each stage of learning.

Student Support Services (part-time staffing position)

Comprehensive Student Support services cultivate success for all WWS students. Recently, WWS Student Support staff received training in utilizing the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems (ALSUP).  Rather than focusing on identifying a student’s challenging behaviour, ALSUP helps faculty and parents recognize the underlying issues prompting behaviours, along with the lagging skills that may be contributing to these issues.

An ALSUP Coordinator will dedicate two hours weekly to collaborate with WWS faculty and educational assistants. Their primary goal is to identify specific areas of lagging skills and address unresolved student issues effectively.

Professional Development –$25K

Waldorf education places children at the core of its pedagogical approach and we acknowledge the pivotal role of teachers in the educational process. At WWS, our teachers stand as our most invaluable asset. We empower our educators to pursue continuous professional development opportunities, enabling them to enhance their expertise and contributions within their respective realms of service.

  • Two WWS educators will participate in a 10-month certification process to become pedagogical mentors. These teachers will acquire advanced skills designed to effectively support and guide their fellow educators within our school community. This initiative not only enhances our commitment to pro-d but also presents a cost-effective solution for internal mentoring within our school.
Transportation – $12k

Students across all grades at WWS engage in a diverse range of off-campus adventures. Opting to lease a bus presents a more cost-effective solution compared to regular bus rentals, offering greater flexibility, and reducing reliance on volunteer parent drivers.

Sustaining WWS for the future

The Whistler Waldorf School has provided a holistic and experiential Waldorf education for more than 20 years thanks to the support of families, alumni, Board Trustees, staff, and local supporters including the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation, the Whistler Community Foundation, and the Resort Municipality of Whistler.

Annual fundraising helps WWS bridge the gap between tuition income and our program expenses and is a vital element of our school’s success. No amount is too small to make a big difference.

All gifts are fully tax-deductible. Please consider a gift today.

Over #20yearsWhistlerWaldorf

For more than 20 years, hundreds of volunteers and community members have come forward to help get our school where it is today. Without their help, support and initiative, the WWS would not have thrived or become what it is known as today – a strong independent school of choice in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor and one of only three full kindergarten-Grade 12 Waldorf Schools in Canada.

Our 2nd annual give campaign in 2021 showcased WWS’ 20 year celebration with thoughts and reflections from lifelong founders, parents and member contributors:
